What do I do?
I work on a wide variety of projects and subjects for businesses and individuals; for example:
I can proofread on screen or on paper, blind or against copy, using the BSI proof correction symbols, the Track Changes function in Word, or PDF markup tools.
My proofreading of your text, printed or electronic, will consist of some or all of the following, depending on your requirements:
Extra information for students
My services to students do not include:
Students must obtain permission from their supervisor to use an editorial freelancer and must provide copies of or internet links to their institution's or department's policy or guidelines on formatting and referencing.
What will it cost?
The fee for a project will depend on factors such as the length, complexity and quality of the material and the scheduling.
Before providing a quote I will ask to see a sample of the material so that I can judge the amount of work required. I will then quote a fixed price, an hourly rate or a rate per thousand words. Whichever form of quote I provide, my fee will be roughly in line with the suggested minimum hourly rates published by the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading.
Work that needs to be completed at short notice or over a weekend or bank holiday may incur an additional charge, but this will be made clear in my quote.
No job is too small but I charge a minimum fee of £20.
A rate will be agreed in writing (including email) before any work starts, together with a description of the work to be carried out and the time frame for completion. I will also need you to accept my Terms & Conditions before I start work on your project.
